Lorenzo
short biography
My name is Lorenzo Fenocchio, and I am a second year Ph.D. student in Chemical Sciences and Technologies at the University of Genova, in Italy. Currently, under the supervision of prof Gabriele Cacciamani, I am working at the construction and expansion of a thermodynamic database aiming to simulate High-Entropy Alloys of several systems, possibly giving suggestions and indications to design and experimentally synthesize alloys of this kind. Moreover, between April and June 2023, I have the pleasure to be at Penn State University as a visiting scholar to learn the most innovative techniques in my field of study in the group of Dr. Zi-Kui Liu.
My background is that of a solid-state chemist; I performed both my Bachelor's and Master's studies at the University of Genova, with theses about synthesis, structural and magnetic characterization of ternary intermetallic compounds of rare earth metals. The master thesis, in particular, was performed in collaboration with the Instituto Superior Tècnico (Lisbon, PT) during a nine months stage within the frame of the Erasmus+ European project.
In the same way I love scientific research, I also enjoy dissemination; in fact, every time I can be involved in didactic activities, I take this chance with the best attitude and enthusiasm. In the past, I worked as an assistant in chemistry workshops and laboratories for children and students and that still is one of the most humanly rewarding experiences of my life.
